This album was originally released in 1963 as Cannonball’s Bossa Nova with no mention of Sergio Mendes on the front cover.
About this copy: This copy of Cannonball Adderley With Sergio Mendes & The Bossa Rio Sextet is a 1967 Japanese pressing on the Capitol label, pressed on “Everclean” red vinyl.
While the album was released in 1963 in the U.S. on the Philips label, the 1967 Capitol release is the first Japanese pressing of the album.
The gatefold cover is M- on the outside and VG++ on the inside with very slight foxing. The obi is M-; the “hojyuhyo” (reorder tag) is still attached.
The envelope-style paper inner sleeve is M-. This LP was issued without an insert.
The red vinyl disc is M- and looks unplayed. Clean disc!
A beautiful copy of a rare (and very good) Jazz/Bossa Nova LP that is very difficult to find complete.
Background: Released in 1963 as a Cannonball Adderley LP, Cannonball Adderley With Sergio Mendes & The Bossa Rio Sextet was reissued several times in the 1960s as Sergio Mendes and Brasil ’66 became popular.
