Description
Offered for sale is an original U.S. Living Stereo pressing of Mussourgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, recorded by Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
About this copy: This copy of Pictures at an Exhibition is an original U.S. pressing on the “Shaded Dog” RCA Living Stereo label, issued in 1958.
The cover is VG, with moderate general wear and a 4″ (10 cm) repaired seam split at the bottom center and a 6″ (15 cm) repaired seam split at the top right edge.
The disc is VG++ with a couple of faint sleeve scuffs. It’s a very clean disc that has had little play.
Stamper numbers are 25s/33s. We played this copy, and the pressing is quite good, though there is a bit of surface noise, as is common with these older RCA titles.
A nice copy of a terrific LP and one of our favorite classical titles.
Background: Mussourgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition has long been a popular favorite as classical music goes, and Reiner’s recording with the CSO in 1958 has long been an audiophile favorite, as it’s a terrific recording.
