Offered for sale is a limited edition U.S. half speed mastered audiophile pressing of Emotions by the Mystic Moods Orchestra, released by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs.
This was the first title issued by Mobile Fidelity in their Original Master Recording series.
About this copy: This copy of Emotions is a 1978 U.S. pressing on the Mobile Fidelity label of an album that was originally released in 1968.
While this is technically a U.S. release, the disc was pressed in Japan by JVC using their proprietary “Supervinyl” compound.
The cover is VG++ with slight edge wear. The posterboard insert is M-. An introductory letter from Mobile Fidelity is included.
The half speed mastered disc is VG++ on side one with a couple of light scuffs. Side two is M- with one or two spindle marks on the labels, but no marks on the vinyl. It’s a clean disc that plays well.
A nice copy of a scarce early Mobile Fidelity title.
Background: In the late 1960s, Brad Miller founded the instrumental easy listening group called the Mystic Moods Orchestra. This group released mostly instrumental recordings that mixed music with environmental sounds.
When Miller’s company, Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs, began pressing high quality half speed mastered audiophile LPs in 1978, Miller used recordings by the Mystic Moods Orchestra for the label’s first three releases in their Original Master Recording series.
