Offered for sale is a Japanese pressing of Led Zeppelin’s untitled fourth album, also known as Led Zeppelin IV, complete with original obi.
This limited edition 1979 release was issued to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the release of the band’s first album.
About this copy: This copy of Led Zeppelin IV is a 1979 Japanese pressing on the Atlantic label of an album that was originally released in 1971.
It includes the original obi, lyric insert, and custom inner sleeve that contained the lyrics to “Stairway to Heaven.”
The cover is VG++ with no wear, but with slight foxing on the back cover. The obi is VG++ with slight foxing on the back, but no tears.
The lyric insert is M-. The custom inner sleeve is M-. The Warner-Pioneer catalog sheet is M-.
The disc is VG++ and close to M-. There are a few spindle marks on the labels, and a faint inaudible mark through “When the Levee Breaks.” It’s a very clean disc that has only been played a few times.
A nice copy of a terrific record.
Background: I’m not sure how much we need to elaborate about Led Zeppelin IV. The album, which included “Black Dog,” “Rock and Roll,” and “Stairway to Heaven,” reached #1 on the UK charts and #2 on the U.S. charts, where it has since sold more than 23 million copies.
