Background: Drum, Drum, Drum (Letters), released in 1970, was one of dozens of instrumental albums released by Japanese drummer Jimmy Takeuchi and his band, the Exciters in the 1960s and 1970s.
The albums consisted of instrumental covers of popular rock songs, mixed with original compositions. Takeuchi is best compared to American drummer Sandy Nelson, who released similar material in the U.S. in the 1960s.
His albums sold well, and most of them featured cheesecake covers.
