Description
Offered for sale is a scarce mono promotional pressing of The Duprees’ 1968 LP, Total Recall.
About this copy: This pressing has a promo-only mono disc in a stereo cover. The cover is VG+, with a DJ sticker and a mono sticker. There is a small, dime-sized tear on the back cover. The record is VG++, with just a couple of small scuffs from the heavy paper sleeve. The record has clearly had very little play.
Background: The Duprees are best remembered for their 1962 hit, “You Belong to Me”, but they continued recording throughout the 1960s. Their 1968 LP, Total Recall, was an attempt to modernize their sound. Issued just as mono pressings were being phased out in the United States, this LP was issued in mono only to radio stations; all commercial, or stock, pressings were stereo.
