Background: Released in late 1967, The Time Has Come was the debut LP by the rock/R&B/psych band the Chambers Brothers.

The album reached #6 on the U.S. album chart, helped by the #11 single “Time Has Come Today.”

Allmusic.com gave The Time Has Come a 4 1/2 star review:

This, the Chambers Brothers’ coming-of-age record, was a well-timed and even better executed exercise in modern record-making. …Having demoed a slightly demented song that year called “Time Has Come Today,” the group entered the studio with producer David Rubinson, who was fresh from some critical acclaim after recording Moby Grape. The resulting album and subsequent title track hit were huge successes, especially on FM radio. The rest of the album shows the brothers not just embracing the psychedelic trends, but also redefining their R&B leanings.

About this copy: This copy of America is a 1972 Japanese pressing on the Warner Brothers label.

The cover is M- with a tiny dent in the lower right hand corner.   The obi is VG++ with a few wrinkles on the “hojyuhyo” (reorder tag.)

The insert is M-.

The disc is M- with one or two spindle marks on the labels, but no marks on the vinyl.  Clean disc!

A beautiful copy of a terrific (and well-recorded) LP the the first original pressing we’ve had for sale.

Background: Released in 1971, America was the first album by the band of the same name.  The album originally did not include “A Horse With No Name” but the track was added after the song became a hit when released as a single.

The album reached #1 on the U.S. album charts.

Allmusic.com gave America a 4 star review:

America’s debut album is a folk-pop classic, a stellar collection of memorable songs that would prove influential on such acts as the Eagles and Dan Fogelberg. Crosby, Stills & Nash are the group’s obvious stylistic touchstone here, especially in the vocal harmonies used (compare the thick chordal singing of “Sandman” and “Children” to CS&N’s “You Don’t Have to Cry” and “Guinevere”) and the prominent use of active strummed acoustic guitar arrangements (contrast “Riverside” to CS&N’s “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes”). …In spite of its flaws, this platter is very highly recommended.

A beautiful copy of a classic Jeff Beck LP.

Background: Released in 1969, Beck-Ola was the second album by the Jeff Beck Group and the last album to feature Rod Stewart on vocals.

The album reached #15 on the U.S. album chart and #39 on the UK chart.

Allmusic.com gave Beck-Ola a 4 1/2 star review:

When it was originally released in June 1969, Beck-Ola, the Jeff Beck Group’s second album, featured a famous sleeve note on its back cover: “Today, with all the hard competition in the music business, it’s almost impossible to come up with anything totally original. So we haven’t. However, this LP was made with the accent on heavy music. So sit back and listen and try and decide if you can find a small place in your heads for it.” Beck was reacting to the success of peers and competitors like Cream and Led Zeppelin here, bands that had been all over the charts with a hard rock sound soon to be dubbed heavy metal, and indeed, his sound employs much the same brand of “heavy music” as theirs, with deliberate rhythms anchoring the beat, over which the guitar solos fiercely and the lead singer emotes. … Beck-Ola stands as a prime example of late-’60s British blues-rock and one of Beck’s best records.

Allmusic.com gave Buffalo Springfield a 4 1/2 star review:

Not to be confused with their self-titled debut album, this double LP, which can still be found without too much hassle, is clearly the best Springfield compilation.  It does miss some good songs, especially from the first album, but zeroes in on their very best work, and includes a nine-minute version of “Bluebird” available nowhere else, as well as excellent liner notes.

Allmusic.com gave Hard Rain this review:

Hard Rain is a snapshot of Bob Dylan’s fabled Rolling Thunder Revue, a traveling circus that was more notable for its excess and character than the music. Hard Rain bears this out, being neither as sacrilegious or as exciting as Blood on the Tracks, and never seeming necessary — after all, it arrives just two years after the last live album.

About this copy: This copy of Dylan is a 1973 Japanese pressing on the CBS/Sony label.

The cover is M-.  The “cap” obi is M-.  The insert is VG+ with moderate foxing.  The inner sleeve is VG++ with slight foxing.

The disc is M- with one or two spindle marks on the labels, but no marks on the vinyl.  Clean disc!

A nice copy of a scarce Bob Dylan LP.

Background: Released in 1973, Dylan was a compilation album prepared by Columbia Records without any input from Bob Dylan.  The material consists of outtakes from Self-Portrait and New Morning.

The album reached #17 on the U.S. charts.

Allmusic.com gave Dylan this review:

Commonly regarded as the worst album in Bob Dylan’s catalog, Dylan is a collection of nine outtakes from the Self Portrait album Columbia assembled after the singer briefly jumped ship for David Geffen’s fledgling Asylum Records. …While Dylan is indeed a negligible album, it isn’t unlistenable — it has a pleasant pop/rock sheen and Dylan sings in his Nashville Skyline croon. Nevertheless, it adds nothing to his canon, and only die-hard fans with a perverse sense of humor will find the record worth a listen.

About this copy: This copy of Surfin’ Round the World is a 1981 Japanese pressing on the CBS/Sony label of an album that was originally released in 1963.

As the album is still sealed, the record is presumably new and unplayed.

The wrap is fully intact, with no rips, tears, or holes.

A beautiful copy of a scarce (and pretty good) Beach Boys-related LP.

Background: Released in 1963, Surfin’ Round the World was the second album by Bruce Johnston.

The album did not chart.

Allmusic.com gave Surfin’ Round the World a 4 star review:

Bruce Johnston had quite a prolific recording career prior to being tabbed as a Beach Boy of the future, and this self-produced effort was one of the more notable installments. From the “Twistin’ U.S.A.”-styled knockoff title song, this is a really fun album, despite the rigidness of the concept inherent in the title. … Falling stylistically somewhere between the frat rock party noise of Surfers’ Pajama Party and his later, more streamlined hot rod efforts with Terry Melcher, this is one fun, rockin’ album indeed.

Released in 1966, Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton was the first studio album by John Mayall.

The album reached #6 on the UK charts, but did not chart in the U.S.

Allmusic.com gave Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton a 5 star review:

Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton was Eric Clapton’s first fully realized album as a blues guitarist — more than that, it was a seminal blues album of the 1960s, perhaps the best British blues album ever cut, and the best LP ever recorded by John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers. Standing midway between Clapton’s stint with the Yardbirds and the formation of Cream, this album featured the new guitar hero on a series of stripped-down blues standards, Mayall pieces, and one Mayall/Clapton composition, all of which had him stretching out in the idiom for the first time in the studio.

Allmusic.com gave Hall of the Mountain Grill a 4 1/2 star review:

The band’s best studio album, coming off of the success of Space Ritual. The group’s rock roots are juxtaposed effectively with the swelling synthesizer flourishes and pretentious song ideas, creating the quintessential guitar-oriented space rock record.
