Offered for sale is a still sealed Japanese pressing of Surfin’ Round the World by Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys.
About this copy: This copy of Surfin’ Round the World is a 1981 Japanese pressing on the CBS/Sony label of an album that was originally released in 1963.
As the album is still sealed, the record is presumably new and unplayed.
The wrap is fully intact, with no rips, tears, or holes.
A beautiful copy of a scarce (and pretty good) Beach Boys-related LP.
Background: Released in 1963, Surfin’ Round the World was the second album by Bruce Johnston.
The album did not chart.
Bruce Johnston had quite a prolific recording career prior to being tabbed as a Beach Boy of the future, and this self-produced effort was one of the more notable installments. From the “Twistin’ U.S.A.”-styled knockoff title song, this is a really fun album, despite the rigidness of the concept inherent in the title. … Falling stylistically somewhere between the frat rock party noise of Surfers’ Pajama Party and his later, more streamlined hot rod efforts with Terry Melcher, this is one fun, rockin’ album indeed.
