Offered for sale is an original red vinyl Japanese pressing of All About Steppenwolf by Steppenwolf, including the original obi and lyric insert.
Note: This album is the original Japanese release of Steppenwolf’s second album, The Second, with a different title, cover, and two additional tracks – “Born to Be Wild” and “A Girl I Knew.” The band’s second album was never released on vinyl in Japan with the original title, cover, or track listing.
About this copy: This copy of All About Steppenwolf is a 1968 Japanese pressing on the Stateside label, pressed on red “Everclean” vinyl.
The cover is M- with tiny dents on the two right-hand corners. The obi is M-. The “hojyuhyo” (reorder tag) is still attached.
The original envelope-style inner sleeve is M- with no splits. The lyric insert is M-.
The red vinyl disc is M- with a couple of spindle marks on the labels, and one or two very faint hairlines on the disc. Clean disc!
A beautiful copy of a rare Steppenwolf LP and one that is almost never found complete.
Background: Released in 1968, The Second was the second album by Steppenwolf.
The album reached #3 on the U.S. album chart, but did not chart in the UK. The single “Magic Carpet Ride” reached #2 on the U.S. singles chart.

The group’s second album was virtually a re-creation of its predecessor, only slightly more sophisticated in its range of songs and the manner of playing them, and the in-house writing had improved, though the latter also became highly derivative. Steppenwolf the Second embraces everything from hard rock to psychedelia to blues, and the band is in excellent form, playing very hard and edgy.
