Description

Offered for sale is an original Japanese copy of the 1980 LP Gaucho by Steely Dan.

About this copy: This copy of Gaucho is a first Japanese pressing, released in 1980, pressed on the original MCA “rainbow” label.

The cover is M-, as is the obi.  The lyric insert is included.

The disc is M- with a minor scuff on side two.

A beautiful copy of a terrific (and great-sounding!) LP.

BackgroundGaucho was the seventh Steely Dan LP and the group’s last album for 20 years.  The album reached #9 on the U.S. charts and #27 in the UK, helped by the single “Hey Nineteen.”

Allmusic.com gave Gaucho a 4 star review:

Aja was cool, relaxed, and controlled; it sounded deceptively easy. Its follow-up, Gaucho, while sonically similar, is its polar opposite: a precise and studied record, where all of the seams show. Gaucho essentially replicates the smooth jazz-pop of Aja, but with none of that record’s dark, seductive romance or elegant aura.
