Description

Offered for sale is a still sealed original U.S. pressing of Synchronicity by the Police, with the rare gold, silver, and bronze cover variation.

There were reportedly 36 different covers for this album; nearly all had red, yellow and blue on the cover.  This version has gold, silver and bronze instead.

About this copy: This copy of Synchronicity is a 1983 U.S. pressing on the A&M label.

As the album is still sealed, the record is presumably new and unplayed.

The wrap is fully intact with no rips, tears, or holes.

There is a hype sticker attached to the wrap that lists five songs on the album and notes that “This record is pressed with KC-600 audiophile vinyl.”

The disc should appear to be purple when held up to the light.

A virtually perfect copy of a terrific LP and one that will likely be your final upgrade.  This is only the second copy of this rare cover variation that we’ve ever had for sale.

Background: Released in 1983, Synchronicity was the fifth and final studio album by the Police.

The album reached #1 on the charts in the UK and in the U.S., where it has sold more than 8 million copies.

The album was released with at least thirty six different covers, and original U.S. issues were pressed on high-quality “audiophile” vinyl, which provided better sound quality than most other mass-produced albums of the early 1980s.

Allmusic.com gave Synchronicity a 4 1/2 star review:

Simultaneously more pop-oriented and experimental than either Ghost in the Machine or Zenyatta Mondatta, Synchronicity made the Police superstars, generating no less than five hit singles. …”Every Breath You Take” has a seductive, rolling beat masking its maliciousness, “King of Pain” and “Wrapped Around Your Finger” are devilishly infectious new wave singles, and “Tea in the Sahara” is hypnotic in its measured, melancholy choruses. …While the hits are among Sting’s best, they also illustrate that he was ready to leave the Police behind for a solo career, which is exactly what he did.
