Offered for sale is a rare limited edition Japanese picture disc pressing of Peter Criss, the first solo album by the Kiss drummer Peter Criss, including the original obi.
The Japanese editions of the Kiss solo picture discs have a different image on the back side than the American picture disc.
About this copy: This copy of Peter Criss is an original 1979 Japanese pressing on the Casablanca label.
The cover is M- . The obi is VG++ with a couple of slight wrinkles on the back, but no tears. The insert is M-.
The disc is M- and may be unplayed.
A beautiful copy of a rare Kiss item that rarely turns up for sale.
Background: Picture disc LPs became popular about the time that the four original members of Kiss released their first solo albums, so their record company, Casablanca Records, released each of the four albums as limited edition picture discs in both the U.S. and Japan.
The U.S. edition featured the cover photo of the album on both sides of the picture disc. The regular black vinyl U.S. editions of the albums included color posters that depicted the band member in cartoon form.
The Japanese picture discs had the cover photo on side one of the disc, but the side two photo was the cartoon image used on the American posters.
While the American picture discs were overpressed to the point that they eventually ended up in cutout bins, the Japanese editions were likely limited to a few hundred copies each and were hard to find even when new.

At the peak of their popularity in 1978, Kiss decided to maximize their sales potential and exploit their loyal audience by having each member release a solo record on the same day. … Peter Criss’ effort was one of the most undistinguished of the bunch, lacking hooks on either the pop-metal rockers or the power ballads, as well as personality throughout.
