Description

Offered for sale is a copy of the spoken word album Flowering Conversations- Talking to Plants!, narrated by Ken Nordine of “Word Jazz” fame.

This LP was intended to be played to your houseplants in order to encourage them to grow!  The album consists of two spoken-word tracks – “Good Morning,” and “Good Afternoon.”

While Nordine is uncredited on the LP, numerous sources have confirmed that he is the narrator on the album.

About this copy: This copy of Flowering Conversations- Talking to Plants! is an original 1970  U.S. pressing on the Greenleaf Productions label.

The cover is M- and is still in the original shrink wrap.

The disc is M- on side one and VG++ on side two, with a light inaudible scuff near the end of the side.  It’s a clean disc that has had little play.

A nice copy of an odd Ken Nordine LP that rarely turns up for sale.

Background: Ken Nordine (1920-2019) was a voiceover and recording artist whose career spanned some 70 years.

Nordine was a well-known recording artist, releasing more than a dozen albums under his own name over a span of fifty years.  The best known is probably 1957’s Word Jazz, where he told unusual stories while backed by Chico Hamilton’s Jazz group.

Nordine also did numerous commercials for radio and television and also narrated many industrial films and film strips.

One of the more unusual albums he recorded in his career was Flowering Conversations- Talking to Plants!, a 1970 LP that was intended to be sold or given away at nurseries.

This album was intended to be played at home for the benefit of your plants, as it was thought by some that talking to your plants might help them grow better.

As the album was sold via nurseries and gardening centers and not record stores, and as Nordine was not credited on the cover, the album did not sell particularly well and is now one of the harder of his albums to find.
