Offered for sale is a copy of the double live album Live at the L.A. Forum Jimi Hendrix, pressed on colored vinyl with one blue splatter vinyl disc and one orange splatter vinyl disc.
About this copy: This copy of Hendrix Alive is a 1977 U.S. pressing on the Mushroom Records label of an album that was originally released in 1970 on the Rubber Dubber label.
The cover is a generic white cover, and is M- and is still in the original shrink wrap. There is a small tear in the wrap near the upper right hand corner. The original insert is M-.
One disc is blue splatter vinyl with some white and black mixed in; the other disc is yellow, green and orange splatter vinyl. Both discs have blank white labels.
The discs are M- with a few spindle marks on the labels, but no marks on the vinyl. Clean discs!
These discs used the same stampers as the Ruthless Rhymes pressing, which had JH-1, JH-2, JH-3 and JH-4 in the dead wax. This pressing has those numbers scratched out and replaced with 2802A, 2802B, 2802C, and 2802D.
A beautiful copy of one of the most sought-after Jimi Hendrix live albums.
Background: Recorded in 1970 and released a number of times on various labels, and under various titles, Live at the L.A. Forum (also known as Hendrix Alive) is a concert recording of Hendrix performing at the Los Angeles Forum on April 25, 1970.
This album was reissued in 1976-1978 by several different labels that were reportedly operated by the same people: Idle Mind Records, Mushroom Records and Ruthless Rhymes records. We believe the Ruthless Rhymes pressing came first, with the Mushroom pressing following shortly thereafter.
While the sound quality isn’t the best, the album is highly regarded as the performance is considered to be one of Hendrix’s best live shows.
