Description
Offered for sale is an original Japanese pressing of Live Album by Grand Funk Railroad, including the original obi and poster.
Note: While some of the early Japanese Grand Funk albums were pressed on red vinyl, all copies of Live Album that were sold in stores were black vinyl.
About this copy: This copy of Grand Funk Railroad’s Live Album is a 1970 pressing on the green Capitol label.
The cover is VG+, with slight wear at the corners and edges. The original obi is VG++ with light foxing but no tears. The “hojyuhyo”, or reorder tag, is still attached.
The lyric insert is VG++ with a couple of creases. The poster is M- with no holes, rips, or tears.
The two discs are M- and look as though they may have been played once.
A nice copy of a classic LP that’s hard to find either complete or as a first pressing.
Background: After three increasingly successful studio albums, Grand Funk Railroad released a live album, appropriately titled Live Album.
Despite critical indifference, the two record set reached #5 on the U.S. album charts and reached #29 in the UK, where it was their only album to make the UK Top 40.
Site visitors at Allmusic.com gave Live Album a 4 1/2 star rating:
Either you love or you hate it. Live Album by Grand Funk Railroad was a smash when released and those who loved it played it to death. A hard rock phenomenon of the waning days of the Sixties, Grand Funk proved over and over that they were the live performing act of the time, and this album is a testament to their in-concert power.
