Dave Gardner - The Best of Dave Gardner sealed original 1964 comedy LP

Offered for sale is an original sealed mono pressing of The Best of Dave Gardner, by comedian Dave Gardner, released in 1964 on RCA Records as LPM-2852.

About this copy:  This 1964 LP compiles material from Gardner’s previous six LPs for RCA.  There is a 4″ break in the wrap at the mouth of the cover.  Aside from that the shrinkwrap is fully intact.  The album is sealed and presumably mint and unplayed.  We presume that the label will be the original RCA black label with the dog at the top.

Julie London – Julie is Her Name Volume II sealed France reissue LP

Julie London - Julie is Her Name Volume II sealed France reissue LP

Offered for sale is a sealed mono reissue of Julie London’s 1958 LP, Julie is Her Name, Volume II, released in France in 1985.

About this copy: Long out of print worldwide, EMI France reissued this LP in 1985 in the original mono.  The copy offered for sale is still sealed and unplayed.  A beautiful copy of a terrific LP.

Background: We’ll let AllMusic.com describe this one:

Three years after her debut, Julie Is Her Name, Julie London returned to the intimate jazz guitar and bass backing that resulted in a Top Ten album and single (the still-popular “Cry Me a River”). You can almost see the cigar-smoking executives at Liberty Records planning this one out — “Hey, if the public loved it the first time, they’re bound to love it again, right?” Well, to give the cigar-chompers some credit, Julie London favored this backing for her live performances and she originally had to fight to be able to record with this intimate jazz backing…. Since the plunging-neckline album cover to London’s debut was talked about as much as the music, Liberty Records decided to continue the concept by literally putting spotlight beams on the famed beauty’s chest. Thankfully, Julie London had enough jazz credentials and focused vocal talent that such blatant cheesecake shots remain of secondary importance to the music contained on the album.

Woodstock – Ultra rare 1970 U.S. 10″ radio spots LP for film

Woodstock - Ultra rare 1970 10" radio spots LP for film

Offered for sale is a rare U.S. 10″ promotional LP containing 18 different radio commercials, or “spots” for the 1970 Oscar-winning documentary, Woodstock.

About this copy: The record offered for sale is a promotional 10″ LP, sent to radio stations in 1970 to promote the feature film.

It contains a series of short radio commercials, some with brief audio excerpts of the film and some without.  Side one has six spots that run 60 seconds each; side two has seven 30 second spots and five 10 second spots.

The record has no catalog number; the dead wax on side one has “Woodstock Side-A” etched in it and side two has “Woodstock Side-B” etched in it, along with the date, “5-70.”

The record was issued without a cover in a plain paper sleeve.  We will provide a cover and a new inner sleeve.

The record is in VG+ condition on side one, with a few light scuffs.  Side two is VG, with a few light scuffs and an odd discoloration on part of side two stemming from a chemical reaction with the original paper inner sleeve.

The record is quite clean overall; most radio spots LPs are in terrible condition.  This one appears to have only been played a couple of times.

A very rare item relating to an iconic event in rock history.

Background: We don’t have to go on at length about significance of the 1969 Woodstock festival, held in August 1969 near Bethel, New York.  The concert, which ran over three days and featured 30 of the biggest and then-up-and-coming artists in all of rock music, made the news at the time, but the three hour documentary film of the event, released in 1970s, made the concert a household word.  The film went on to win the Best Documentary Oscar at the Academy Awards in 1971.
