Description
Offered for sale is a limited edition U.S. picture disc pressing of Couldn’t Stand the Weather by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble.
About this copy: This copy of Couldn’t Stand the Weather is a 1984 U.S. pressing on the Epic label..
The vinyl sleeve retains the original hype sticker listing the song titles. There are no splits in the sleeve, but there is a small tear in the upper right hand corner of the sticker.
The picture disc is VG++ with a couple of faint scuffs from the heavy plastic sleeve. It’s a clean disc that has had little play.
A nice copy of a terrific album and the first copy we’ve had for sale in several years.
Background: Couldn’t Stand the Weather, the second album by Stevie Ray Vaughan, takes off where his debut, Texas Flood, left off, and got a lot of airplay from the title track as well as “Cold Shot.”
The album reached #31 on the U.S. album charts and was certified double platinum by the RIAA.
Allmusic.com gave Couldn’t Stand the Weather a 4 star review:
Stevie Ray Vaughan’s second album, Couldn’t Stand the Weather, pretty much did everything a second album should do: it confirmed that the acclaimed debut was no fluke, while matching, if not bettering, the sales of its predecessor, thereby cementing Vaughan’s status as a giant of modern blues.
The album was briefly available in the mid-1980s as a picture disc pressing, though the picture discs didn’t sell particularly well. When Stevie Ray Vaughan unexpectedly died in a helicopter crash in 1990, the picture discs seemingly vanished from the market overnight.
