Description
Offered for sale is an original Japanese white label promotional copy of Purple Passages by Deep Purple, complete with original obi.
About this copy: This copy of Purple Passages is an original 1972 Japanese issue on the Warner Brothers label.
The cover is VG+, with a bit of general wear and some slight wear at the edges and corners. The lyric insert is M-.
The obi is VG++, with a couple of wrinkles on the back side. The “hojyuhyo,” or reorder tag, is still attached.
The two white label promo discs are M- and look unplayed.
A nice copy of a scarce Deep Purple compilation.
Background: Released in 1972, Purple Passages was a double album that was prepared for the American market, as it collected tracks from Deep Purple’s first three albums – Shades of Deep Purple, The Book of Taliesyn, and Deep Purple.
These LPs were deleted in the United States when the band’s American label, Tetragrammaton Records, went out of business in late 1969.
Rather than reissue the three LPs, the band’s new label, Warner Brothers, elected to release a double album containing the best of those three LPs, plus the non-LP track “Emmeretta.”
