Description

Offered for sale is a still sealed copy of the limited edition Japanese “Pro-Use” pressing of Abbey Road by the Beatles, including the original obi.

This is possibly the best-sounding version of Abbey Road ever released on vinyl anywhere.

About this copy: This copy of Abbey Road is a 1978 Japanese issue on the Apple label with the “Pro-Use Series” obi.

As the album is still sealed in a loose bag, the record is presumably new and unplayed.

The wrap is fully intact, with no rips, tears, or holes.

A virtually perfect copy of a great-sounding classic LP and the only sealed copy we’ve ever had for sale.

Background: In 1978, EMI-Toshiba introduced a limited edition audiophile series of albums in Japan.  Most of the titles were classical or Jazz titles by artists who were not well known, but the series also included Abbey Road by the Beatles and The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd.

Both titles offered exceptionally good sound and have long been sought out by audiophiles.

There’s not much to say about Abbey Road that hasn’t already been said; the album reached #1 on the album charts in 7 different countries, and has sold more than 12 million copies in the U.S. alone.

Allmusic.com gave Abbey Road a 5 star review:

In many ways, Abbey Road stands apart from the rest of the Beatles’ catalog, an album that gains considerable strength from its lush, enveloping production — a recording so luxuriant, it glosses over aesthetic differences between the group’s main three songwriters and ties together a series of disconnected unfinished songs into a complete suite. Where Sgt. Pepper pioneered such mind-bending aural techniques, Abbey Road truly seized the possibilities of the studio and, in doing so, pointed the way forward to the album rock era of the 1970s. Many of the studio tricks arrive during that brilliant suite of songs, a sequence that lasts nearly a full side of an album. … While a single song or segment can be dazzling, having a succession of marvelous, occasionally intertwined moments is not only a marvel but indeed a summation of everything that made the Beatles great.
