A Japanese second issue of their 1973 LP, Quadrophenia, complete with book and obi
Offered for sale is a Japanese second issue pressing of the 1973 album by the Who, Quadrophenia, complete with the original 40 page book and obi.
Released in 1973, Quadrophenia, the second rock opera by The Who, may be their definitive statement. The story is of a boy, Jimmy, who has four distinct personalities -representing the personalities of each of the members of the band. The album was a huge seller when released, reaching #2 on the American Billboard chart, and spawned a number of songs that receive airplay to this day: 5:15, The Real Me, and Love, Reign O’er Me.
The copy offered for sale is a Japanese second issue on CBS/Sony (first issues were on Track) from 1980 or so. The records appear to have been pressed from the original Track stampers, as the first catalog number (ECPJ9TR/ECPJ10TR) is stamped in the dead wax.
This copy includes the original 40 page book, printed on high quality glossy paper. The original obi is present.
The records are M-, and have obviously only been played a few times. The cover is VG++, with just bits of wear at the corners. There is a name written in ballpoint pen in the upper right hand corner of the front of the cover. The obi and book are M- with no tears.
This is a great (and great-sounding) copy of an album that Rolling Stone rated the #266th best album of all time.
