Background: Released in 1988, Tracy Chapman was a surprise hit, reaching #1 on the U.S. album charts and being certified 6 times platinum by the RIAA.
The album appeared just as American record companies began phasing out the pressing of vinyl LPs in favor of compact discs, so the album was only in print on vinyl for a short time.
The album has long been a favorite among audiophiles, as it’s a very well recorded LP.
