Offered for sale is an original Japanese pressing of Straight, No Chaser, by Thelonious Monk, including the original obi.
About this copy: This copy of Straight, No Chaser is a 1967 Japanese pressing on the CBS label.
The cover is VG, with moderate edge and corner wear and some discoloration from age on the back cover. There are no rips, tears, or splits.
The obi is VG-, with repaired tears at the top and bottom edge and numerous wrinkles on the back side.
This LP was issued without an insert.
The disc is M- with a few spindle marks on the labels, but no marks on the vinyl. Clean disc!
A beautiful copy of a terrific LP that’s hard to find as a complete first pressing.
Background: Released in 1967, Straight, No Chaser, was the sixth album Thelonious Monk recorded for Columbia Records.
The title track has since become a Jazz standard.

This is the sixth studio album cut by Thelonious Monk under the production/direction of Teo Macero for Columbia and as such should not be confused with the original motion picture soundtrack to the 1988 film of the same name. The band featured here includes: Monk (piano), Charlie Rouse (tenor sax), Ben Riley (drums), and Larry Gales (bass). This would be the final quartet Monk would assemble to record with in the studio.
