A sealed stereo pressing of the 1966 LP The Supremes A' Go-Go by the Supremes.
Offered for sale is a still sealed stereo copy of the 1966 LP The Supremes A’ Go-Go by the Supremes.
Released in August of 1966, The Supremes A’ Go-Go was the group’s first album to reach #1 on the Billboard albums chart. Featuring two Top Ten Hits (“Love is Like an Itching in My HEart” and “You Can’t Hurry Love”, which reached #1) the album consists entirely of uptempo cover songs, most of them covers of songs by other Motown artists.
Supremes A’ Go-Go was the group’s first number one pop album, propelled to that place with help from a chart-topping single (“You Can’t Hurry Love”) and a marketing ploy that generated an irresistible song lineup. And along with The Supremes Sing Holland-Dozier-Holland, Supremes A’ Go-Go has held its value better than almost any of the trio’s most successful albums (which excludes We Remember Sam Cooke) — in fact, back in the days when vinyl was the only game in town, used copies of this record sold faster and better than any of their other common ’60s LPs, and for good reason.
You can hear “Love is Like an Itching in My Heart Here”:
About this copy: This copy of The Supremes A’ Go-Go is an original still sealed stereo pressing. At the time of the album’s 1966 release, most of the copies sold were mono, making original stereo copies somewhat harder to find.
As the album is still sealed, the record is presumably new and unplayed. The wrap is fully intact except for a 3″x3″ piece that is missing near the top of the back cover. There are no cutout holes or cut corners and no other tears in the wrap.
A beautiful copy of a terrific LP.
