Description
Offered for sale is a limited edition half speed mastered Canadian pressing of Equinox by Styx.
This LP was issued as part of A&M Canada’s short-lived A&M Audiophile series.
About this copy: This copy of Equinox is a 1980 Canadian pressing on the A&M label of an album that was originally released in 1975.
While technically a Canadian release, the disc was pressed in Japan by JVC using the same “Supervinyl” compound that was used for Mobile Fidelity LPs in the U.S.
The cover is VG++ and close to M- with a couple of minor creases and slight wear on one corner.
The half speed mastered disc is M- with a couple of spindle marks the labels, but no marks on the vinyl. Clean disc!
A nice copy of a scarce Styx LP.
Background: Released in 1975, Equinox was the fifth album by Styx.
The album reached #58 on the U.S. album chart, but did not chart in the UK.
Allmusic.com gave Equinox this review:
Equinox produced Styx’s first single with A&M, the highly spirited “Lorelei,” which found its way to number 27 on the charts. Although it was the only song to chart from Equinox, the album itself is a benchmark in the band’s career since it includes an instrumental nature reminiscent of their early progressive years, yet hints toward a more commercial-sounding future in its lyrics. …Still harboring their synthesizer-led dramatics alongside Dennis De Young’s exaggerated vocal approach, the material on Equinox was a firm precursor of what was to come .
