Offered for sale is a still sealed copy of the promo-only picture disc pressing of Starcastle’s Citadel, issued in 1979 by Epic Records.
Starcastle never quite hit the A list, but they made a few albums of passable progressive rock in the mid-1970s. They were often compared to Yes, and there were a lot of similarities in their music.
In order to draw attention to their third LP, 1978’s Citadel, Epic Records manufactured a few copies of the album as picture discs and sent them out to radio stations. They weren’t intended for airplay, as picture discs tend to be rather noisy, but to draw attention to the band. The picture disc pressings of Citadel became quite collectible, as the picture disc version of the album represented one of the most attractive picture discs ever made, both then and now.
This picture disc pressing of Citadel is still sealed and is presumably unplayed. The shrinkwrap is fully intact with no rips or tears.
A nice copy of a great-looking record.
