Description
Offered for sale is an original U.S. promotional pressing of A New Flame by Simply Red, pressed on high-quality audiophile vinyl that was used only for promotional copies.
About this copy: This copy of A New Flame is a 1989 U.S. pressing on the Elektra label.
The cover is VG+ with a small tear near the upper left hand corner and a bit of corner wear.
There are three hype stickers on the cover – one promoting three songs, one that says “When You Play It, Say It!” and one that says “Pressed on high quality audiophile vinyl.”
The custom inner sleeve is M- with no splits.
The white label promotional disc is VG++ and close to M- with a few spindle marks on the labels and a couple of very faint sleeve scuffs. It’s a clean disc that has had little play.
A nice copy of a pretty good (and well-recorded) LP and a hard album to find on vinyl, as the vinyl pressing was quite limited.
Background: Released in 1989, A New Flame was the third album by Simply Red.
The album reached #1 on the UK album chart and #22 on the U.S. chart.
Allmusic.com gave A New Flame a 4 star review:
Although Hucknall tries to resurrect soul in his own original songs, he’s most successful at evoking the past, notably on Simply Red’s second number one, a remake of the Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes classic “If You Don’t Know Me by Now.”
