Description
Offered for sale is a red vinyl white label promotional copy of the Japan-only double album All About the Seekers by the Seekers, including the original obi.
About this copy: This copy of All About the Seekers is an original 1970 pressing on the Odeon label.
The gatefold cover is VG++, with slight foxing on the inside of the cover, but no wear.
The obi is VG+, with a few minor wrinkles, a bit of foxing on the back, and a repaired tear at the top edge. The “hojyuhyo,” or reorder tag, is still attached.
This LP was issued without a lyric insert, as the information an insert would provide is included in the booklet inside the cover.
The plain white plastic-lined inner sleeves that were only used for promotional copies are included.
The two white label promo red vinyl discs are M- and look unplayed. Beautiful discs.
A nice copy of a rare Seekers LP.
Background: While the Seekers had a number of hits in the UK and Australia between 1964-1967, their success elsewhere was a bit more modest.
In the U.S; they’re remembered for their three Top 20 hits – “I’ll Never Find Another You” (#4), “A World of Our Own” (#19), and “Georgy Girl” (#2.)
They were somewhat popular in Japan, though their material there is best represented by several compilation LPs that were sold only in that market.
The double album All About the Seekers, released in 1970, was one such compilation, and it collected together all of the songs that most casual buyers would care to hear from the group:
- Georgy Girl
- The Carnival Is Over
- A World Of Our Own
- Come the Day
- Morningtown Ride
- I’ll Never Find Another You
- Yesterday
- California Dreamin’
- Red Rubber Ball
- Island Of Dreams
- 59th Street Bridge Song
- If You Go Away
- Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right
- Four Strong Winds
- Chilly Winds
- Turn Turn Turn
- The Water Is Wide
- The Time They Are A-Changin’
- Blowin’ In The Wind
- What Have They Done To The Rain
- Kumbaya
- The Last Thing On My Mind
- This Land Is Your Land
- The Leaving Of Liverpool
