Offered for sale is a still sealed red vinyl limited edition pressing of Hemispheres by Rush, released in 1978 in Canada.
Sealed copies of this LP have become quite rare, and used ones are unusually prone to cover wear.
About this copy: This copy of Hemispheres is a red vinyl Canadian pressing, released on Anthem Records 1978 and including the original poster.
As the album is still sealed, the red vinyl record is presumably new and unplayed.
The wrap is fully intact except for breaks at three of the corners. The upper two corners have wear (see photos.)
The cover has a hype sticker that says, “SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION RED VINYL PRESSING also INCLUDES COLOUR POSTER.”
A nice copy of a terrific record that is usually found in terrible condition.
Background: Hemispheres, released in 1978, was the sixth album by Rush, reaching #14 on the Canadian charts and #47 on the U.S. charts, though it was later certified platinum by the RIAA for sales of one million units.
The LP was issued as a limited edition on red vinyl in Canada, as well as a picture disc edition in the United States.
While such albums as 1980’s Permanent Waves and 1981’s Moving Pictures are usually considered Rush’s masterpieces (and with good reason), 1978’s Hemispheres is just as deserving. Maybe the fact that the album consists of only four compositions (half are lengthy pieces) was a bit too intimidating for some, but the near 20-minute-long “Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres” is arguably the band’s finest extended track.
