Offered for sale is a rare green and black marbled vinyl pressing of the limited edition issue of Through the Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2) by the Rolling Stones, issued in the Netherlands in 1978.
All copies of this issue were intended to be pressed on green vinyl, but this copy has quite a bit of black vinyl mixed in with it, creating a beautiful marbled effect. This may have been a pressing error or it may have been made by a pressing plant employee for their own use.
About this copy: This copy of Through the Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2) is a 1978 Dutch pressing on the Decca label.
The cover is VG, with no general wear, but a fair amount of edge and corner wear. There is a small piece of cellophane tape on the top and bottom edge.
The green and black disc is VG on side one, as it has a large scratch through the first three tracks (but no other marks on the vinyl.) The three tracks play just fine with a bit of surface noise. There are no spindle marks on the label.
Side 2 is M- with no marks on the vinyl and no spindle marks on the label. It’s a clean disc, with one large scratch.
A beautiful, if imperfect, copy of a very rare colored vinyl Rolling Stones LP and the only marbled vinyl copy of this pressing we’ve seen that wasn’t entirely green.
Background: Released in 1969, Through the Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2) was the second hits compilation by the Rolling Stones.
