Offered for sale is a limited edition white vinyl pressing of A Night at the Opera by Queen, issued in France in 1978.
About this copy: This copy of A Night at the Opera is a French issue, rather than the more common pressing from the Netherlands.
The cover is VG+, with a couple of bent corners and a stray small black mark in the lower right hand corner. There is a large hype sticker on the cover that says “Disque en Couleur.”
The white vinyl disc is M- and appears to have had little, if any, play.
A beautiful copy of a terrific record and the first French white vinyl pressing we’ve ever had for sale.
Background: A Night at the Opera was the fourth album by Queen and is likely their best-known LP. Released in 1975, the album reached #1 in the UK and #4 in the U.S., where it has sold more than three million copies.
Queen were straining at the boundaries of hard rock and heavy metal on Sheer Heart Attack, but they broke down all the barricades on A Night at the Opera, a self-consciously ridiculous and overblown hard rock masterpiece. …It’s prog rock with a sense of humor as well as dynamics, and Queen never bettered their approach anywhere else.
