A limited edition half speed mastered pressing of the second LP by the Police, Regatta de Blanc, issued only in Canada
Offered for sale is a limited edition, half speed mastered pressing of the second album by the Police, Regatta de Blanc, issued only in Canada in the early 1980s.
A&M of Canada had a short-lived series of half speed mastered LPs in the early 1980s, and used similar techniques in manufacturing to Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs. Their lacquers were cut at half speed, with the tape deck also running at half speed, for maximum fidelity and a more accurate cut. The records were pressed on Supervinyl by JVC in Japan and had a nice, quiet playing surface. Many of the titles issued in this Canadian series are unavailable anywhere else as audiophile pressings, and most of them sound quite good.
The copy of the second album by the Police, 1979’s Regatta de Blanc, is in that series, and both the cover and the record are M-. Aside from a spindle mark on the label, the record looks essentially unplayed. The cover still retains shrink wrap.
A nice sounding copy of a great LP.
