Offered for sale is a copy of Pink Floyd Tour ’75, a U.S. LP that was issued to promote the band’s 1975 U.S. tour.
This LP was issued only as a promotional item and was not sold in stores.
About this copy: This copy of Pink Floyd Tour ’75 is an original 1975 pressing on the Capitol label, though it is not labeled as such.
The cover is VG++, with slight ring wear on the back. The titles that are rubber stamped on the cover are fairly legible, but they’re not terrible well-defined.
The disc is M- and may be unplayed. It has a single minor sleeve scuff through one track.
A beautiful copy of a rare Pink Floyd LP that is usually found in terrible condition.
Background: Released in 1975, Pink Floyd Tour ’75 was released by Capitol Records to promote Pink Floyd’s back catalogue during the band’s tour for the Wish You Were Here LP.
Pink Floyd had left Capitol Records for Columbia after The Dark Side of the Moon LP, so Capitol was taking advantage of the band’s tour to promote the band’s older albums that they could sell.
The album was designed to look like a bootleg, with the title and track listing stamped on the cover with a rubber stamp.
The white label promotional disc did not make any mention of Capitol Records on the label, though “mastered by Capitol” is stamped in the dead wax.
While the title suggests that the album is live, it consists of previously released studio tracks on one side and two live tracks (taken from Ummagumma) on the other.
- The Gold, It’s In the … (from Obscured by Clouds)
- Wots…Uh the Deal (from Obscured by Clouds)
- Free Four (from Obscured by Clouds)
- One of These Days (from Meddle)
- Fat Old Sun (from Atom Heart Mother)
- Astronome Domine (from Ummagumma)
- Careful With That Axe, Eugene (from Ummagumma)
