This LP will play on stereo equipment but has different mixes from the stereo release. The quad version of the album was only released as an 8 track tape in the U.S.
About this copy: This copy of Atom Heart Mother is a 1974 UK pressing on the Harvest label.
This is the second quadraphonic issue of the LP, without the “SQ” logo on the front cover.
The cover is VG++, with slight edge wear. The disc is M- and appears to be virtually unplayed. Side one has an “A” stamper code; side two is hard to see but it may also be “A”.
A nice copy of a scarce Pink Floyd LP. Good sound on this one, too.
Background: Released in 1970, Atom Heart Mother was the fifth album by Pink Floyd.
The album reached #1 on the UK charts, but peaked at #55 on the U.S. charts, making it what was then the band’s highest-ever charting album in the U.S.
Atom Heart Mother was one of three Pink Floyd albums to be remixed for quadraphonic in the mid-1970s, along with Wish You Were Here and The Dark Side of the Moon.

Appearing after the sprawling, unfocused double-album set Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother may boast more focus, even a concept, yet that doesn’t mean it’s more accessible. If anything, this is the most impenetrable album Pink Floyd released while on Harvest, which also makes it one of the most interesting of the era. Still, it may be an acquired taste even for fans, especially since it kicks off with a side-long, 23-minute extended orchestral piece that may not seem to head anywhere, but is often intriguing, more in what it suggests than what it achieves.
