Offered for sale is an original Japanese red vinyl pressing of Peter, Paul & Mommy by Peter, Paul & Mary, complete with original obi.
About this copy: This copy of Peter, Paul & Mommy is an original Japanese issue on the green Warner Brothers/7 Arts label, and includes the lyric insert and the original obi.
The cover is VG+, with no general wear, but some wear on the edges and corners. The lyric insert and obi are M-. The “hojyuhyo,” or reorder tag, is still attached to the obi.
There is a small piece of cellophane tape on the inside of the gatefold cover.
The red vinyl disc is M- with a small inaudible mark through one track. The disc has clearly only been played a couple of times.
The two sides of the record are labeled “Toy Side” and “Zoo Side,” rather than 1 and 2.
A beautiful copy of an album that’s quite hard to find as an original pressing.
Background: Peter, Paul & Mommy was the trio’s 10th studio album, their first children’s record, and their last album before reuniting in 1978.
The album reached #12 on the U.S. charts and was certified gold by the RIAA. A single from the album, “Day is Done,” reached #21 on the U.S. charts.
Peter, Paul and Mary had the essential appeal of seeming like a family — Peter Yarrow and Noel Paul Stookey looked as though they could have been brothers, and it really wasn’t a stretch to see Mary as their sister. It’s this picture that informs Peter, Paul and Mommy, an album of songs for children (as played by people accommodating to adults) and prevents it from becoming a lump of sugar….While short at 35 minutes it’s a charming, well-done album that’s as delightful for grown-ups as for kids — and as vital for kids as it ever was. If you have children, you can sit with them and enjoy this album.
