Description

Offered for sale is a still sealed copy of the triple live album Wings from the Wings by Paul McCartney and Wings, pressed on red, white, and blue vinyl.

About this copy: This copy of Wings From the Wings is a 1976 pressing on the Idle Mind Productions label.

As the 3 LP set is still sealed, the records are presumably new and unplayed.

The wrap is fully intact except for a 4 inch (10 cm) split in the wrap on the bottom edge at the back of the cover.  We’ve secured this with tape to prevent further splitting.

There is a hype sticker on the wrap that says “Special Bicentennial Collector’s Edition Entire Concert on 3 discs.”

Most copies of this album were pressed with one red disc, one white disc, and one blue disc.  This set should contain vinyl with those colors.

Some copies of this album had Idle Mind labels; others had plain white labels.  The label variation on this set is unknown.

A nice copy of a rare Paul McCartney set and one that a rarely turns up sealed.

Background: Released in 1976, Wings From the Wings was a recording that contained the complete performance of the band’s final show of their tour, held at the Los Angeles Forum, June 29, 1976.

The popularity of this set reportedly influenced McCartney and Capitol Records to release the triple album Wings Over America.

Allmusic.com gave Wings From the Wings a 4 star review:

Paul McCartney’s world tour of 1976 not only resulted in Capitol’s three-LP set Wings Over America, it also resulted in numerous bootlegs. One of the most rewarding was Wings From the Wings, which is also a three-LP set and documents McCartney and the Wings’ June 23, 1976 performance at the Los Angeles Forum (which was the final show of that tour). Obviously a soundboard recording, this bootleg boasts generally excellent sound quality (with a few rough spots here and there) and finds McCartney in fine form on favorites that range from “Band on the Run,” “Jet,” and “Live and Let Die” to “Let ‘Em In” and “Listen to What the Man Said.”

Tracks are:

  • Venus And Mars
  • Rock Show
  • Jet
  • Let Me Roll It
  • Spirits Of Ancient Egypt
  • Medicine Jar
  • Maybe I’m Amazed
  • Call Me Back Again
  • Lady Madonna
  • The Long And Winding Road
  • White
  • Live And Let Die
  • Picasso’s Last Words (Drink To Me)
