Allmusic.com gave Up to Date a 4 star review:
On Up to Date, Cassidy and Jones are again backed up by an army of recording session stalwarts, including Hal Blaine (drums), Larry Carlton (guitar), Joe Osborne (bass), and Larry Knechtel (keyboards). Providing the saccharine-sweet, make-your-teeth-hurt backing vocals are the six-member Love Generation. The formula continued to work and the hits just kept on coming, with both “I’ll Meet You Halfway” and “Doesn’t Somebody Want to Be Wanted” shooting into the Top Ten on the singles chart.
