Offered for sale is a sealed copy of the 1971 LP titled Mu, from the band of the same name, on CAS Records.
About this copy: The copy offered for sale is a still sealed 1974 pressing on the CAS label. The wrap is fully intact and has no rips, tears or holes, nor does the cover. The wrap has a bit of dirt from storage, but on the whole, it’s a gorgeous copy of a record that we think is pretty terrific.
Background: 1971’s Mu was the latest adventure from surf/psych/pop legend Merrell Fankhauser. This band included Jeff Cotton from Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band on guitar. While obscure, the album has developed quite a cult following over the years, as has just about every record with Fankhauser involvement.
AllMusic.com gave Mu 4 1/2 stars:
One of the best overlooked albums of the early ’70s. Daring rhythms and song structures that build off the blues without following the standard three-chord/12-bar progressions, occasional modal jazzy sax by Cotton, and great slide guitar combine to form one of the most unclassifiable recordings of the time, with a high-spirited lightness that avoids the heavy excesses that sometimes burdened late-period psychedelia.
The album was originally released in 1971 on RTV Records; the record was reissued in 1974 on CAS Records.
