About this copy: This copy of The Monkees Greatest Hits is an original 1974 Japanese pressing on the Bell label, featuring a gatefold cover with lyrics and color photos of the band inside.
The cover is M-, as is the obi.
This LP was issued without an insert.
The disc is VG++ on side one, with a couple of faint sleeve scuffs. Side two is M-.
A nice copy of a surprisingly hard to find Monkees LP and the only copy we’ve ever had for sale.
Background: The Monkees were quite popular in Japan from the mid-1960s through the mid-1970s, and in 1974, Bell Records reissued the band’s entire catalog in Japan and included a number of compilation LPs that were unique to that country.
We’re rather amused to see “Peter Percival Patterson’s Pet Pig Porky” included on any Monkees album as a “hit.”
