Monkees – Golden Album Vol. 2 rare Japan LP with obi

A copy of the rare Japanese compilation LP Golden Album Volume 2 by the Monkees, complete with obi

$150.00

Offered for sale is a rare Japanese compilation LP by the Monkees called Golden Album, Volume 2, complete with the original obi.

The Monkees were quite popular in Japan, as they were in the United States.  As albums were quite expensive in Japan in the 1960s, their record company, RCA, released a number of compilation albums in order to satisfy the demand from buyers who only wanted to buy one or two albums, rather than all of them.

Some of these compilations are more common than others, but this one, Golden Album, Volume 2, is quite scarce, and far harder to find than its predecessor, Golden Album.

The album also has a rather strange cover, as the photo looks like an outtake.  Note that Mike Nesmith has his eyes closed!  The back cover photo shows Peter Tork with a beard.

Golden Album, Volume 2 contains tracks that span the group’s entire career:

  • (Theme from ) The Monkees
  • Daydream Believer
  • D.W. Washburn
  • Cuddly Toy
  • We Were Made for Each Other
  • Shades of Gray
  • Zor and Zam
  • Valleri
  • Tear Drop City
  • Someday Man
  • Randy Scouse Git
  • Star Collector
  • A Man Without a Dream
  • I’ll Be Back Up on My Feet

About this copy: This copy of Golden Album, Volume 2 is in terrific condition and includes the nearly-always-missing obi.  The cover is VG++, with just traces of wear at the corners.  The obi is VG+, with some slight wrinkling.  The disc is VG++, just missing M- due to a couple of inaudbible scuffs through two tracks on side one.  The record has clearly had very little play.

The gatefold cover includes lyrics in both English and Japanese and the album was issued without an insert.

A beautiful copy of a very rare Monkees LP and the only copy we have ever seen that included the obi.
