Offered for sale is an early Japanese pressing of Off the Wall by Michael Jackson, including the original obi.
About this copy: This copy of Off the Wall is a 1979 Japanese pressing.
We’re not sure if it’s a first issue or not, as there were four versions of the album released in rapid succession with four differently colored obi. All had the same catalog number but with slight variations in the obi design. This one makes mention of the fact that the album reached #1 on the charts, which suggests that it’s not the first issue.
So it’s a later 1979 or early 1980 pressing.

A nice copy of a terrific LP.
Background: Released in August, 1979, Off the Wall was the fifth solo album by Michael Jackson.
The album reached #3 on both the U.S. and UK album charts. The album has sold more than twenty million copies to date.
Michael Jackson had recorded solo prior to the release of Off the Wall in 1979, but this was his breakthrough, the album that established him as an artist of astonishing talent and a bright star in his own right. This was a visionary album, a record that found a way to break disco wide open into a new world where the beat was undeniable, but not the primary focus — it was part of a colorful tapestry of lush ballads and strings, smooth soul and pop, soft rock, and alluring funk. …. Jackson and Jones expanded this approach on the blockbuster Thriller, often with equally stunning results, but they never bettered it.
