About this copy: This copy of The $5.98 EP/Garage Days Re-Revisited is an original 1987 U.S. promotional copy on the Elektra label.

The cover is VG+, with faint ring wear.  There’s a saw mark in the spine; all promotional copies have this.

The white label promo is M-, with a couple of faint scuffs on side one.  There are a few spindle marks on the labels.  This disc has been well cared for and clearly has only been played a few times.

A nice copy of a scarce Metallica item.

Background: Released in August, 1987 The $5.98 EP/Garage Days Re-Revisited was the band’s first release following the death of original bassist Cliff Burton.

The EP reached #18 on the U.S. charts.

Allmusic.com gave The $5.98 EP/Garage Days Re-Revisited a 3 star review:

Following Cliff Burton’s death, Metallica took some time off and initiated new bassist Jason Newsted with a raw, unpolished EP of covers originally recorded by Diamond Head, Holocaust, Killing Joke, Budgie, and the Misfits. Most fit the band’s style quite well; only “Last Caress” sounds out of place, as the original seemed looser and more dangerous. As a showcase for some strong metal riffs and material by mostly underground bands, the EP works quite well.
