Background: Starting in 2008, Metallica released their entire catalog in the form of limited edition, high quality, half speed mastered 180 gram pressings.
These were issued at both 33 1/3 speed and also at 45 RPM for better sound quality.
Released in 1996, Load was the sixth studio album by Metallica.
The album reached #1 on the UK charts and #1 in the U.S.

Delivered five years after their eponymous “black” album in 1991, Load captures Metallica settling into an uneasy period of maturation. Under the guidance of producer Bob Rock, Metallica have streamlined their sound, cutting away most of the twisting, unpredictable time signatures and the mind-numbingly fast riffs. What’s left is polished — and disappointingly straightforward — heavy metal.
