Offered for sale is an original Japanese red vinyl white label promo pressing of Martin Denny’s 1961 LP Romantica
Martin Denny, while not well known today, was practically a household word in the late 1950s, having created a genre of music known as “exotica.” Light jazz, featuring piano and vibraphone, was paired with sounds of nature, such as frogs and birds. It was weird, but it worked, and Denny sold a lot of records during those two decades. Many of his albums featured model/actress Sandy Warner on the cover, and many of his albums are collectible today for the covers alone.
Romantica, released in 1961, features a number of tunes related to romance.
