Description
Offered for sale is a rare quadraphonic pressing of Lou Reed’s 1975 2 LP set, Metal Machine Music.
About this copy: The cover is VG+, with wear at the corners, a bit of ring wear, and a 1/2″ tear at the top near the mouth. The discs are VG++, with just a few minor sleeve scuffs.
A rare copy of one of rock’s most unusual LPs, and only the second quad copy of this album that we have ever seen.
Background: Metal Machine Music is an enigma; no one has ever really been sure what to make of it. Was it art? Or a jab at the record company? Or a joke? Whatever it was, the album is one of the most polarizing releases ever by a major artist. Essentially four sides of processed guitar feedback, Metal Machine Music will test the patience of all but the most die hard Lou Reed fans.
While most copies were stereo, RCA also released a limited number of copies in the quadraphonic format. While the album will produce four channel (CD-4) sound when played back with the proper equipment, it will also offer a different mix from the stereo pressing when played back in stereo.
