Offered for sale is a still sealed original U.S. pressing of Longbranch Pennwhistle, the only album by the band of the same name, featuring Glenn Frey of the Eagles and J.D. Souther.
About this copy: This copy of Longbranch Pennwhistle is a 1970 U.S. pressing on the Amos label.
As the album is still sealed, the record is presumably new and unplayed.
The wrap is almost completely intact except for a couple of very tiny breaks at the mouth (see photo.) This was likely caused by applying too much heat to the shrink wrap at the factory. There is also a very tiny break on the top edge just above the letter “L” in the band name.
Unlike many copies, this copy does not have any cutout marks.
A beautiful copy of a rare Eagles-related LP.
Background: Released in 1970, Longbranch Pennwhistle was the only album by the band of the same name, which featured Glenn Frey of the Eagles and J.S. Souther, who wrote a number of the Eagles’ hits, as well as a few of his own.
The album was released without notice and did not chart.
Longbranch Pennywhistle’s only album is mostly of interest to collectors and intense Eagles fans, as it features Glenn Frey and J.D. Souther collaborating before either had risen to fame. It’s more low-key and less slick than the Eagles — than even the early Eagles records, in fact — but undeniably also lacks the pop hooks that made the Eagles successful stars from the git-go.
