Description

Offered for sale is a complete set of four solo picture disc LPs from the four original members of Kiss.

One of the four discs (Ace Frehley) is still sealed.

About this set: This set of four solo albums by the original members of Kiss was released in the U.S. in 1978 on Casablanca Records.

Ace Frehley – This LP is still sealed; the record is presumably new and unplayed.  The poster is visible through the center hole.  This copy is uncut; it has no cutout marks.  The wrap us fully intact except for a 1 1/2″ split at the spine and a 1/2″ missing piece at the top of the back cover.  Beautiful copy!

Gene Simmons – The cover is VG++, with slight edge and corner wear.  The upper right hand corner is cut.  The poster is missing.  The disc is VG++, with a few minor scuffs.

Paul Stanley – The cover is VG++, and close to M-, with slight corner and edge wear.  The upper left hand corner has been cut, but the cut is a tiny one.  The poster is missing. The disc is M-.

Peter Criss – The cover is VG, with edge and corner wear and slight ring wear.  The lower right hand corner has been cut.  The poster is included, and is VG++, with no holes.  The disc is VG+, with a few minor scuffs.

A nice copy of a rare set and the first time we’ve ever had a complete set.

Background: In 1978, at the height of Kiss’ popularity, all four members of the band released solo albums at once.

The albums were a moderate success peaking at #22, #26, #40 and #43 on the U.S. charts (Gene, Ace, Paul, Peter.)

All four albums were issued as both standard black vinyl and as limited edition picture discs.  The picture discs sold poorly and were soon found in discount bins.

Allmusic.com gave Ace Frehley a four star review:

Of the four Kiss solo albums released simultaneously in 1978, the best of the bunch is guitarist Ace Frehley’s. Similar in approach to Paul Stanley’s album, Frehley did not stray far from the expected heavy Kiss sound (like Gene Simmons and Peter Criss did with their releases), but Ace was equipped with better compositions than Stanley. …Unfortunately, when Ace left Kiss in 1982 (eventually forming Frehley’s Comet), he never came close to topping this solid and inspired 1978 solo outing.
