Background: Released in 1981, Escape was the seventh studio album by Journey

The album reached #1 on the U.S. album charts and has sold more than nine million copies.

In the early 1980s, CBS Records in the U.S. and Japan created a limited edition series of high quality audiophile pressings of then-new and older LPs that were pressed on premium vinyl and sold at a premium price.

In the U.S., most of the titles were half speed mastered.  In Japan, most of the titles were digitally remastered pressings. The series did not last long and most titles were quickly discontinued.   Frontiers was one of several Journey albums to be released as part of the series.

Allmusic.com gave Escape a 4 1/2 star review:

Escape was a groundbreaking album for San Francisco’s Journey, charting three singles inside Billboard’s Top Ten, with “Don’t Stop Believing” reaching number nine, “Who’s Crying Now” number four, and “Open Arms” peaking at number two and holding there for six weeks. Escape flung Journey steadfastly into the AOR arena, combining Neal Schon’s grand yet palatable guitar playing with Jonathan Cain’s blatant keyboards. All this was topped off by the passionate, wide-ranged vocals of Steve Perry, who is the true lifeblood of this album, and this band. The songs on Escape are more rock-flavored, with more hooks and a harder cadence compared to their former sound.
