Description
Offered for sale is an 8 LP box set featuring Josef Krips and the London Symphony Orchestra performing all 9 of Beethoven’s symphonies, released in 1960 by Everest Records.
About this copy: This copy of Beethoven – The Nine Symphonies is an 8 LP stereo box set issued in the 1960s by Everest Records. The labels are all dark gray, which suggests that this is a later issue.
The box is in VG condition. It’s complete, but has some tears and cellophane tape residue.
The 8 records are quite clean and are all in VG++ condition. They’ve had little play, but most have a few scuffs from the paper sleeves that were originally included in the box. The original booklet that came with the set is included.
A nice, playable copy of a box set that’s somewhat hard to find.
Background: Everest Records wasn’t a well-known label, even during its prime. The label specialized in classical recordings, and some of them are quite good and have long been sought out by audiophiles.
This recording of Beethoven’s 9 symphonies was released in 1960 as a complete box set, and the individual symphonies were also released separately. Classic Records reissued the entire box set in 2008 or so and that box set is one of that label’s most difficult titles to find.
