Offered for sale is a still sealed original U.S. pressing of Orgasm, the only LP ever released by John’s Children.
About this copy: This copy of Orgasm is a still sealed 1970 U.S. pressing on the White Whale label.
As the album is still sealed, the record is presumably new and unplayed.
While the album is still sealed, there is a 7″ break in the wrap at the mouth of the cover. We’ve secured it with tape to prevent it from opening further.
There is a small 1/2″ tear in the wrap at the lower left hand corner, and a 1″ break and a slight cover split in the center of the bottom edge.
This cover does not have cutout marks of any sort – no saw marks, cut corners or drill holes.
A still sealed example of an impossibly rare LP, and the only copy (in any condition!) that we’ve ever had for sale.
Background: John’s Children barely attracted attention in the musical world during their brief 1966-1969 career. They’re best known today for being the band that Marc Bolan was in before forming Tyrannosaurus Rex, and for their only LP, Orgasm, which was released in 1970.
The album was actually recorded in 1967, but the release was delayed, reportedly at the insistence of the Daughters of the American Revolution. That’s likely untrue, but the world was likely not ready for an album called Orgasm in 1967.
Marc Bolan did not perform on the LP.
The album is an odd one; it’s a studio recording with live audience sounds overdubbed on it (reportedly taken from the film, A Hard Day’s Night) to give the impression that it was recorded live.
As the band had already broken up by the time the album was finally released, sales were minimal and the album was quickly deleted.
