Offered for sale is a vary rare picture disc pressing of Two Virgins: Unfinished Music No. 1 by John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
John Lennon’s first “solo” album was actually a non-musical work in collaboration with Yoko Ono. Titled, Two Virgins: Unfinished Music No. 1, the album immediately became notorious for its cover art, which depicted both John and Yoko in the nude. While released as-is in the UK, the album was sold in the United States with a brown paper slipcover over the actual cover.
As the record was in print for a very short time, Two Virgins had become quite collectible by the late 1970s, and counterfeit copies began to appear on the market. One of these unauthorized editions was a picture disc version, which was issued complete with a reproduction of the brown wrapper that was included with the original U.S. edition of the LP.
The picture disc edition is far harder to find than any other version of the album, including the original Apple release.
About this copy: This copy of Two Virgins is a rare picture disc edition, issued in about 1980. It includes the disc, a clear plastic inner sleeve and a brown wrapper. We will include a plain white cover to simplify storage.
The wrapper is VG++, with a few wrinkles, but no rips, tears, holes or ringwear. The disc is M-, and may be unplayed. The disc is unusually heavy; it weighs 224 grams.
A nice copy of a rare variation of this notorious album and the only picture disc copy of this album we’ve ever had for sale.
